Sliders
Sliding
windows roll back and forth horizontally. You may choose to have one
side stationary (non-operable) or for both sides to slide. A dual sliding
window allows for both panels or sashes to be removed from the inside
for cleaning ease. Sliding windows generally use rollers on the bottom
of the sashes for easy use.
The
best rollers will be nylon that self-lubricate with vinyl. Some windows
will use brass rollers
for strength and durability.
Few
sliders will have plastic rolling systems because the weight of the
sashes wear them out quicker. Sliders will use cam locking systems for
security. Depending on manufacturer’s and sizes one or two cam
locks are standard. Double sliding windows will come standard with a
“night lock”.
A
night lock allows your window to maintain airflow while preventing the
window from being open all the way for security purposes. |
