Bay/Bow
A bay or bow window adds a new dimension to any room. A bay or bow consists
of three, four, five, and even six panels or sashes. It extends past your
exterior wall up to 24” giving you an additional 2 feet of seating
or sheg. Gravina's bay windows consist of 3 pa nels
where the ends operate either up and down (double hung) or crank out (casement).
The center panel is non-operable (picture window).
Gravina's bow windows
consist of 4 or more panels where the ends operate and the center panels
are non-operable. Bay and bows are built as one piece where the windows
are surrounded by either oak or birch seats and heads. All wood is unfinished
and
will need to be painted/stained after installation.
We use a cabling system to install bay or bows which hang the window from
your rafters as opposed to supporting them below with 4” x 4”
posts. The posts often detract from the exterior view of the bay/bow.
A hanging installation will last longer than a support system.
